dc.descriptionThis study, part of a bigger research projection entrepreneurial development in the región of Concepción during the 19th century, analyzes the activities of a traditional landlords taking two families as case studies: the Urrejola Vicuurs, and the Urrutia Manzanos. The forefathers had formed part of the economic élite of Concepción at the end the Colonial era. During the 19th century, however, their descendants were overtaken by other entrepeneurs who come to Concepción from abroad or from other parts of Chile, and who reactivates the local economy by developing news activities and modernizing others, while the landlords were relegated to a second place in the economy.es-ES
