dc.descriptionSome interpreters have seen in Glaucon and Adeimantus’ challenge an antecedent of the question ‘why be moral?’. The aim of this text is to show that the identification is problematic. On the one hand, the notion of morality, even if it can be identified with the notion of justice in the Republic, turns out to be broader than the latter. On the other hand, it is not at all clear that Glaucon and Adeimantus can be called “moral skeptics”. Finally, it is not clarifying to understand their challenge from the standard opposition between deontology and teleology, but rather from a perspective that we will call “eudaimonistic”.en-US
dc.descriptionAlgunos intérpretes han visto en el desafío de Glaucón y Adimanto un antecedente de la pregunta ‘¿por qué ser moral?’. El objetivo de este texto es mostrar que la identificación es problemática. Por un lado, la noción de moralidad, aunque se la pueda identificar con la de justicia de la República, resulta ser más amplia que ésta. Por otro lado, no es del todo claro que a Glaucón y Adimanto se los pueda llamar “escépticos morales”. Por último, no resulta esclarecedor comprender el desafío desde la contraposición estándar entre deontología y teleología, sino más bien desde una perspectiva que llamaremos “eudaimonista”.es-ES
