The experience of evil and suffering is a real fact and facing this is necessary to find sense in the mistery of pain. It is only from a faithful look that we can get closer to the deep mistery of suffering. There are innumerable questions that emerge from this experience: Why does evil exist? Does God allow it? Why doesn't God stop such terrible experience of pain and suffering? From all of these questions and others that could probably emerge, it is strictly necessary to make a theological question: Is it possible to even think about God's suffering? This led to a paradigm shift in Trinitarian-theological reflection, moving from the notion of an immutable and apathetic God, to a passive and suffering God. In this article, the author addresses the study of the axiom of divine patheia from its causes, its theological implications and the contributions of contemporary theological reflection, to enlighten the real and suffering man of our time and to express its relevance and capital importance in current theological reflection.Frente a una realidad tan evidente como la experiencia del mal y del sufrimiento surge la necesidad de buscar un sentido al misterio del dolor. Desde una perspectiva puramente humana resulta imposible dar una lúcida respuesta. De esta manera, los interrogantes formulados desde la experiencia del dolor son innumerables: ¿por qué existe el mal? ¿Dios lo permite? ¿Por qué Dios no pone un freno a tanto dolor e injusticia? Frente a estos y tantos otros interrogantes emerge la pregunta estrictamente teológica: ¿es posible y pensable el sufrimiento en Dios? Esto condujo a un cambio de paradigma en la reflexión teológica-trinitaria, pasando de la noción de un Dios inmutable y apático, a un Dios pasible y sufriente. En este artículo, el autor aborda el estudio del axioma de la patheia divina desde sus causas, sus implicaciones teológicas y los aportes de la reflexión teológica contemporánea, para iluminar al hombre real y sufriente de nuestro tiempo y para expresar su relevancia y capital importancia en la reflexión teológica actual.
