This article studies the resources available throughout the history of the modern piano for learning piano technique. It is structured in two parts. In the first place, the evolution of advanced level didactic works is collected, from the first methods of the 19th century for the modern piano to the present. Secondly, it describes the actuality of piano technique learning process in Spanish regulated centers that teach Higher Arts Education in the major of Interpretation. For this, a quantitative study was carried out using a questionnaire. The conclusions indicate that the students are based on texts dating from the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, Chopin’s studies being the most widely used. In addition, there is a preeminence of the study of digital technique by means of scale formulas, which does not prepare for the execution of the entire required repertoire. A factor analysis revealed that students can be grouped into seven categories, based on their conceptions about learning piano technique.En este artículo se estudian los recursos disponibles a lo largo de la historia del piano moderno para el aprendizaje de la técnica pianística. Se estructura en dos partes. En primer lugar, se recoge la evo- lución de las obras didácticas de nivel avanzado, desde los primeros métodos del siglo XIX destinados al piano moderno hasta el presente. En segundo lugar, se describe la actualidad del aprendizaje de la técnica pianística en los centros reglados españoles que imparten Enseñanza Artística Superior en la especialidad de interpretación. Para ello se llevó a cabo un estudio cuantitativo mediante cuestionario. Las conclusiones indican que el alumnado usa textos que datan del siglo XIX y de la primera mitad del siglo XX, siendo los estudios de Chopin de los más empleados. Además, se observa una preeminencia del estudio de la técnica digital mediante fórmulas de escalas, que no prepara para la ejecución de la totalidad del repertorio exigido. Un análisis factorial reveló que se puede agrupar al estudiantado en siete categorías, en función de sus concepciones acerca del aprendizaje de la técnica pianística.
