| dc.description | In our country there are no psychologists who work in intensive or intermediate health services: where the so-called "critical patient" is found. Patients admitted to the critical care unit, by definition, are serious and during the last 20 years intensive care units have become an essential part of almost all general hospitals; established institutions change the layout of the space available to create them, no new one is built without such units. Its value is proven in the treatment of the seriously ill. In these units, with peculiar physical and technical characteristics, several aspects are combined that make up a special and unusual psychological atmosphere, which generates some effects on the patient, psychological and psychiatric effects that require the attention and action of a specialist in the subject. I think that our professional psychologists would have a lot to contribute in this sense, a lot to say and do, especially the latter, so that this letter intends to motivate some colleagues to become interested in the subject. | en-US |
| dc.description | En nuestro país no hay psicólogos que trabajen en Servicios Intensivos ni intermedios de salud: donde se encuentra el denominado "paciente crítico". Los pacientes internados en la unidad de cuidado crítico, por definición, son graves y durante los últimos 20 años las unidades de cuidado intensivo han pasado a formar parte esencial de casi todos los hospitales generales; las instituciones ya establecidas cambian la disposición del espacio disponible para crearlas, no se construye ningún nuevo sin tales unidades. Su valor está comprobado en el tramiento del enfermo grave. En estas unidades, de características físicas y técnicas peculiares, se conjugan varios aspectos que conforman una atmósfera psicológica especial y poco usual, lo cual genera algunos efectos en el paciente, efectos psicológicos y psiquiátricos que requieren de la atención y acción de un especialista en la materia. Creo que nuestros profesionales psicólogos tendrían mucho que aportar en este sentido, mucho qué decir y hacer, especialmente esto último de modo que la presente pretende motivar a algunos colegas a intersarse en el tema. | es-ES |
