In search of complementary or alternative treatments, a questionnaire-interview was applied to 50 epileptic schoolchildren refractory to drug therapy, whose ages ranged from 7 to 14 years. Their mothers were also interviewed. The questionnaire was intended to specify the environmental conditions and the possible possibilities of self-control of the convulsive crises. Among the results, we found the most relevant to be that 76% of the crises occur at home, 68% in the presence of family members, 26% of children identify signs prior to the crises and 24% say they manage to avoid them. These results support the view that psychological support consisting of identifying pre-seizure conditions and behaviors may eventually make them less likely.En búsqueda de tratamientos complementarios o alternativos se aplicó un cuestionario-entrevista a 50 escolares epilépticos refractarios a la fármacoterapia, cuyas edades fluctuaban entre los 7 y los 14 años. También se entrevistó a sus madres. El cuestionario estuvo destinado a precisar las condiciones ambientales y las eventuales posibilidades de autocontrol de las crisis convulsivas. Entre los resultados nos pareción que los más relevantes consisten en que un 76% de las crisis ocurren en la casa, el 68% en presencia de familiares, un 26% de los niños identifican señales previas a las crisis y un 24% dice lograr evitarlas. Estos resultados respaldan la opinión de que el apoyo psicológico consistente en identificar condiciones y comportamientos previos a las crisis convulsivas pueden eventualmente hacerlas menos probables.
