This study aims to expose the importance of affectivity as an emotional expression within conjugal love, drawing a line of continuity between the Iliad and Odyssey by Homer and the Erotic by Plutarch. The analysis is positioned within the history of emotions. It identifies that in erotic language, as in the filial one, it means, the dialectics éros (έρως) and philía (φιλíα) shows concepts that put their emphasis into the affection, such as póthos (πόθος) and philótēs (φιλότης) respectively, and its articulation with the context in which these literary works were released, valuing its influence in the process of social validation of marital love.Keywords: Homer, Plutarch, love, emotion, affection, póthos, philótēs.El presente estudio tiene por objeto exponer la importancia de la afectividad como expresión emocional en el seno del amor conyugal, trazando una línea de continuidad entre la Ilíada y la Odisea de Homero, y el Erótico de Plutarco. El análisis se posiciona desde la historia de las emociones, identificando que tanto en el lenguaje erótico como en el filial, es decir, la dialéctica éros (έρως) y philía (φιλíα), se aprecian conceptos que ponen su énfasis en el afecto, tales como póthos (πόθος) y philótēs (φιλότης) respectivamente, y su articulación con el contexto en que vieron la luz estas obras, valorando su influencia en el proceso de validación social del amor matrimonial.Palabras clave: Homero, Plutarco, amor, emociones, afecto, póthos, philótēs.
