| dc.description | Este artículo aborda el espacio surandino peruano durante el siglo XIX, en tanto laboratorio para examinar la actuación de la población indígena en la defensa de los derechos de propiedad y comunales sobre la tierra, particularmente, en el rol de la denominada élite indígena en dicho proceso. Este espacio social, cultural y económico fue considerado como periférico para el Estado peruano, razón por la cual se impulsaron sobre él una serie de cambios institucionales y normativos en el contexto de la formación del Estado nacional. Con la intención de incorporar el país a los circuitos económicos capitalistas, se desertificó narrativamente la zona e invisibilizó las especificidades culturales de la población nativa que habitó este territorio. Así, este espacio se erigió como un ámbito de articulación entre las diversas agencialidades y sectores socio-étnicos en él presentes. Tras un breve análisis del proceso de formación del Estado peruano, se atenderán los principios económicos liberales que afectaron directamente los derechos de propiedad comunal sobre la tierra y con ello, las adscripciones étnicas, económicas y tradiciones culturales de los habitantes naturales del territorio que reaccionaron/adaptaron a los mismos. Específicamente, profundizaremos en la praxis que desplegó la élite indígena para interactuar con la legislación y autoridades republicanas como legítimos defensores de los derechos comunales de las comunidades de originarios, pero también cómo, en el marco de la instauración del orden liberal, éstos aprovecharon sus redes para conservar propiedades y obtener beneficios particulares, incluso perjudicando a los naturales que debían proteger.Palabras clave: élites indígenas, comunidades, tierra, liberalismo, Perú. | es-ES |
| dc.description | This article deals with the Peruvian South Andean space during the 19th century, as a laboratory to examine the actions of the indigenous population in the defense of property and communal land rights, particularly the role of the so-called indigenous elite in this process. This social, cultural and economic space was considered peripheral for the Peruvian State, which is why a series of institutional and normative changes were promoted in the context of the formation of the national State. With the intention of incorporating the country into the capitalist economic circuits, the area was narratively desertified and the cultural specificities of the native population that inhabited this territory were made invisible. Thus, this space was erected as a sphere of articulation between the diverse socio-ethnic sectors present in it. After a brief analysis of the process of the formation of the Peruvian State, we will address the liberal economic principles that directly affected the communal property rights over the land and with it, the ethnic, economic and cultural traditions of the natural inhabitants of the territory who reacted/adapted to them. Specifically, we will delve into the praxis deployed by the indigenous elite to interact with the legislation and republican authorities as legitimate defenders of the communal rights of the native communities, but also how, in the context of the establishment of the liberal order, they took advantage of their networks to preserve properties and obtain private benefits, even to the detriment of the natives they were supposed to protect.Keywords: Indigenous elites, communities, land, liberalism, Peru. | en-US |
