This paper addresses the question about what the main transformations in ethics has been related to research with human beings during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. A historical review is presented, firstly related to the damages inflicted on the research subjects, and later the incorporation of rules aimed to regulate this activity is presented. The foundations of this normative body are developed as mostly linked to the evolution of human rights and the principles of bioethics, which implied a great contribution to the way in how ethics in this kind of research is conceived. Next, the main axes of scientific behavior that must currently be considered in any research process with human beings are described and analyzed, with special interest in informed consent and confidentiality terms. Finally, the particularity of research with human beings in social and human sciences -including psychology-, and its differential contributions with respect to this kind of research in biomedical research are addressed.El presente trabajo aborda la pregunta acerca de cuáles han sido las principales transformaciones en la ética vinculada a la investigación con seres humanos durante los siglos XX y XXI. Se parte de un recorrido histórico, inicialmente relacionado con la producción de daños en los sujetos de investigación y, posteriormente, se presenta la incorporación de normas tendientes a regular esta actividad. Se desarrollan los fundamentos de este corpus normativo, vinculado a la evolución de los derechos humanos y los principios de la bioética, lo que implicó un aporte de gran relevancia con respecto a cómo concebir la ética en este campo. A continuación, se describen y analizan los ejes centrales del accionar científico que actualmente deben considerarse en todo proceso de investigación con seres humanos, con especial interés en el consentimiento informado y la confidencialidad. Finalmente, se aborda la particularidad de la investigación con seres humanos en las ciencias sociales y humanas –incluyendo la psicología–, y sus aportes diferenciales con respecto a este tipo de investigación en el campo biomédico.
