La presente indagación intenta actualizar, a la luz de nuevos datos duros, la estratificación social del habla de la Comunidad sociolingüística de Valparaíso, a partir de lo efectuado, en este campo, en el año 2000, que permitió, metodológicamente, a los investigadores de esta área diferenciada del conocimiento, seleccionar a sus informantes con una caracterización estratificacional muy bien definida. Referencialmente, la estratificación social de una Comunidad de habla se mantiene gracias al control institucional de los grupos sociales más poderosos, jurídico, cultural y económico y existen varios modos o criterios de realización: por una parte, la clase social, la red social y el mercado lingüístico y, por otra, el aumento y especificación de roles. Nuestra propuesta de estratificación social se construye sobre la base de una segmentación de los hablantes, acorde a su estatus socioeconómico y cultural, considerando indicadores como: educación, ocupación (rol social) y nivel de ingresos. Abstract: This investigation tries to update, in the light of new hard data, the social Stratification of the speech in the Sociolinguistic Community of Valparaíso, based on what was done in this field in the year 2000, since it allowed the researchers of this differentiated area of knowledge, to select their informants, with a very well defined stratistic characterization. Referentially, the social Stratification of a Speech Community is maintained due to the institutional control of the most powerful social groups; legal, cultural and economic control and there are several way or criteria of realization: on the one hand, social class, social network and the Linguistic market and, on the other, the increase and specification of roles. This social Stratification proposal is built on the basis of speaker’s segmentation according to their socioeconomic and cultural status, considering indicators such as: education, occupation (social role) and income level.
