| dc.description | The discussion of consciousness is undoubtedly the central topic in philosophy of mind today. However, the various naturalistic approaches to consciousness fail to account for two fundamental questions: i) is consciousness the product of natural selection; ii) does consciousness have a function? In the present paper, I will argue that this failure is fundamentally due to a conceptual and biological evidence error. In this way, I will seek to elucidate a strategy by appealing to complexity and comparative biology, which accounts for i), and which points the way to answer ii). | en-US |
| dc.description | La discusión acerca de la consciencia es, sin duda, el tema central de la filosofía de la mente hoy en día. Sin embargo, las diversas aproximaciones naturalistas acerca de la consciencia fallan al dar cuenta de dos preguntas fundamentales: i) ¿es la consciencia producto de la selección natural? ii) ¿posee la consciencia una función? En lo presente, argumentaré que dicho fallo pasa, fundamentalmente, por un error conceptual y de evidencia biológica. De esta manera, buscaré dilucidar una estrategia apelando a la complejidad y a la biología comparada, la cual dé cuenta de i), y que señale el camino para responder ii). | es-ES |
