| dc.description | Dating violence from the perspective of the male as a victim is a less studied phenomenon due to the personal, social, and cultural barriers that surround its recognition. The objective was to identify the social representations of dating violence in heterosexual couples where the male is the victim. It is a qualitative study from the interpretative phenomenological approach. The sample consisted of 16 university men between the ages of 18 and 26. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, transcribed, and imported into ATLAS.ti v8 software. The results corroborate that male can recognize and identify the characteristic signs of verbal, physical and psychological violence in peers within dating relationships, however, they do notrecognize themselves as victims. A framework of social, cultural, and personal factors hinders this process and, in turn, generate conditions of stigma and re-victimization due to the fear of losing their partner, not being treated as victims and the affectation of their masculinity. Duration and commitment of the relationship are aspects that can lead to the normalization of violent behaviors, understanding them as a normative crisis of the couple and avoiding the complaint. These results recognize the need to develop studies and initiatives aimed at intervening in this phenomenon at the individual and social level, focusedon offering alternatives in which male victims can recognize themselves, denounce and overcome violent relational dynamics. | en-US |
| dc.description | La violencia dentro de las relaciones de noviazgo en donde el hombre es la víctima es un fenómeno poco estudiado debido a las barreras personales, sociales y culturales que giran en torno a su reconocimiento. El objetivo fue conocer las representaciones sociales sobre la violencia en el noviazgo en parejas heterosexuales donde la víctima es el hombre. Es un estudio cualitativo desde el enfoque fenomenológico interpretativo. La muestra estuvo conformada por 16 hombres universitarios entre los 18 y 26 años. Se llevaron a cabo entrevistas semiestructuradas que fueron transcritas e importadas en el software ATLAS.ti v8. Los resultados corroboran que los hombres pueden reconocer e identificar los signos característicos de la violencia verbal, física y psicológica en homólogos dentro de las relaciones de noviazgo, no obstante, no se reconocen a sí mismos como víctimas. Un entramado de factores sociales, culturales y personales dificultan este proceso y a su vez, generan condiciones de estigma y revictimización por el temor a la perdida de la pareja, el no ser tratados como víctimas y la afectación a su masculinidad. La duración y el compromiso de la relación son aspectos que puede llevar a la normalización de conductas violentas, entendiéndolas como una crisis normativa de la pareja y evitando su denuncia. Estos resultados vislumbran la necesidad de desarrollar estudios e iniciativas encaminadas a tratar este fenómeno a nivel individual y social enfocadas en brindar alternativas en las que los hombres que son víctimas puedan reconocerse, denunciar y salir de dinámicas relacionales violentas. | es-ES |
