This article develops an approach to a social, literary and artistic phenomenon based on complexity and epistemology. The phenomenon refers to a standing lawsuit that has been filed to the producers of the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit. The producers are accused of a misrepresentation or “false” representation of the chess player Nona Gaprindashvili in the fictional universe of the series during the last episode. In this sense, the article examines the implications that this lawsuit, coming from outside the artistic work, bursts into the interior of the series and extends its effects to the multiple intertexts or universes of potential realities, to recriminate the misrepresentation of living subjects inside a fictional world. That is to say, the paper observes the multidimensional blend between reality and fiction, based on this phenomenon and how one affects the other, in addition to its scope.En este artículo se elabora una aproximación a un fenómeno social, literario y artístico a partir de la complejidad y la epistemología. El fenómeno consiste en una demanda legal vigente a principios de 2022 que ha sido impuesta a los productores de la serie The Queen’s Gambit de Netflix. A los productores se les imputa una “mala” o “falsa” representación de la ajedrecista Nona Gaprindashvili en el universo ficcional desplegado por la serie durante un instante en el último episodio. En este sentido, el artículo revisa las implicaciones que este señalamiento legal, proveniente del exterior de la obra, irrumpe en el interior de la serie y se extiende a los múltiples intertextos o universos de realidades potenciales, para recriminar representaciones “incorrectas” de sujetos vivos en un mundo ficcional. Es decir, se estudia la mezcla multidimensional entre la realidad y la ficción, a partir de este fenómeno y cómo repercute una en la otra, además de sus alcances.
