dc.description	The research that originates this article is about determining the most significant morphological changes in the urban image of the city of Castro, in the Archipelago of Chiloé, due to the historical and cultural value of the central area. The analysis focuses on the historical area of the city as the study area, through a bibliographic and photographic analysis, with emphasis on the morphological changes that have occurred in the last sixty years (1960-2020). It includes, well as a planimetric investigation to identify influential factors that affected the urban morphology. population growth, occupation of territory, subdivision, density and urban plot. The results show that the morphological changes generated by disasters, such as the fire or the earthquake of 1960, were determining factors in the conception of an urban image. On the other hand, the results indicate that the expansion of the city, conditioned the consolidation of neighborhoods with an architectural typology different from the traditional one and not corresponding to the local culture.	en-US
dc.description	La investigación que origina este artículo fue realizada con el propósito de determinar los cambios morfológicos más significativos en la imagen urbana de la ciudad de Castro, ubicada en el archipiélago de Chiloé, debido al valor histórico y cultural del área central. El trabajo se enfoca en la zona histórica de Castro, con énfasis en los cambios morfológicos ocurridos en los últimos sesenta años (1960-2020). Comprende un análisis bibliográfico y fotográfico para mostrar su evolución arquitectónica en el último siglo, así como una investigación planimétrica para identificar factores influyentes respecto a las princi-pales variaciones urbanísticas, crecimiento demográfico, ocupación de territorio, for-mas de loteo, densidad y trama urbana. Los resultados muestran que los cambios mor-fológicos generados por desastres, como el incendio o el terremoto del año 1960, fueron factores determinantes para la concepción de una imagen de ciudad. Por otra parte, los resultados señalan que la expansión de la ciudad condicionó la consolidación de barrios con tipología arquitectónica diferente a la tradicional y que no corresponde a la cultura local.	es-ES
