| dc.description | This article has two objectives. On the one hand, to defend the historical reality of Diotima, based on the analysis of ancient sources and research of contemporary thinkers. On the other hand, to demonstrate that Socrates’ speech about love, in the dialogue Symposium, is part of a teaching transmitted to the Athenian philosopher by this woman, in such a way that Diotima should be considered, rather than a mask of Socrates, as the representation of one of the first female philosophers in the history of Western thought. | en-US |

Por una parte, defender la realidad histórica de Diótima a partir del análisis de fuentes antiguas y de investigaciones de pensadores contemporáneos. Por otra parte, demostrar que el discurso sobre el amor que emite Sócrates en el diálogo Simposio forma parte de una enseñanza transmitida al filósofo ateniense por esta mujer, de tal manera que habría que considerar a Diótima, más que como una máscara de Sócrates, como la representación de una de las primeras filósofas en la historia del pensamiento occidental. | es-ES |
