dc.descriptionEn noviembre de 2019, el Primer Congreso de la Asociación Latinoamericana de Volcanología (ALVO), a realizarse en Antofagasta, Chile, fue reagendado para marzo de 2020 debido a la crisis social que se desató en el país. En ese momento, desde la ALVO nos preguntamos ¿cuál es la repercusión de lo social en lo volcánico, y no sólo de lo volcánico en lo social? Para la ALVO, conocer los diferentes aspectos culturales e históricos que configuran los territorios volcánicos, así como el conocimiento de estos eventos y su repercusión en nuestra comunidad social y científica, mostraron la necesidad de visibilizar lo que se ha hecho y se hace en la región latinoamericana respecto a la reducción del riesgo de desastres, desde la gestión de los riesgos y el acompañamiento en los procesos psicosociales de las comunidades que han sido afectadas, hasta el estudio de las vulnerabilidades y el (re) conocimiento de saberes comunitarios. Esperamos que lectores y lectoras de este Número Especial ‘Sociedad y Volcanología (SOVOL)’ disfruten los trabajos seleccionados y sean partícipes de estas experiencias sociales y académicas, con el fin último de que puedan tener una resignificación para su propio desarrollo humano.es-ES
dc.descriptionIn November 2019, the First Congress of the Latin American Association of Volcanology (ALVO, by its initials in Spanish) which would have been celebrated in Antofagasta, Chile, was finally rescheduled to March 2020 due to the social crisis that sprung in the country. At that time, from ALVO, we pondered not only the impacts of volcanic aspects on society, but also the reciprocal effects of social aspects on volcanoes. At ALVO, we know the different cultural and historical aspects that shape volcanic territories, and we are aware of these kinds of social events and its repercussion in our social and scientific communities. For us, this shows the need to make visible what had been done and what is being done in the Latin American region in relation to disaster risk reduction: from risk management and the accompaniment in psychosocial processes of the affected communities, to the study of community vulnerabilities and to know (or acknowledge) community wisdom. We hope that the readers enjoy the Special Issue ‘Society and Vulcanology (SOVOL)’ that open up next and take part in these social and academic experiences, and that, in the end, they can have a resignification for your own human development.en-US
