dc.descriptionLa Apropiación Social del Conocimiento Geocientífico (ASCG) es clave para una exitosa gestión del riesgo de desastres (GRD) en un territorio. En el caso de la vulcanología, el conocimiento científico debe ser conocido y utilizado por las comunidades en riesgo volcánico. Este artículo presenta las estrategias implementadas por el Servicio Geológico Colombiano (SGC) y su Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Manizales (OVSMA) para promover la ASCG y la Gestión del Riesgo Volcánico (GRV) del volcán Nevado del Ruiz (VNR). Las estrategias se basan en las lecciones de la erupción del VNR en 1985, el segundo mayor desastre volcánico del siglo XX con 25,000 víctimas. Es fundamental que las personas en riesgo conozcan su territorio. La gestión del riesgo de este volcán, el más activo en Colombia, es un gran desafío. Hemos encontrado que estas estrategias fortalecen la institución, fomentan el diálogo con las comunidades, diversifican los espacios de encuentro, promueven la comunicación y educación, favorecen la coproducción de conocimiento y sensibilizan sobre la participación comunitaria y corresponsabilidad en la GRD. El artículo contextualiza la ASCG, la GRV en Colombia y el legado de la erupción, mientras reflexiona sobre las estrategias implementadas y sus aportes a la GRD.es-ES
dc.descriptionThe Social Appropriation of Geoscientific Knowledge (SAGK) is crucial for successful disaster risk management (DRM) in a territory. In the case of volcanology, scientific knowledge must be known and utilized by communities at volcanic risk. This article presents the strategies implemented by the Colombian Geological Service (CGS) and its Vulcanological and Seismological Observatory of Manizales (OVSMA) to promote SAGK and Volcanic Risk Management (VRM) of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano (NRV). These strategies are based on the lessons learned from the 1985 eruption of NRV, the second largest volcanic disaster of the 20th century with 25,000 victims. It is essential for people at risk to be familiar with their territory. Managing the risk of this volcano, currently the most active in Colombia, presents a significant challenge. Studied strategies may help to strengthen institutions, foster dialogue with communities, diversify meeting spaces, promote communication and education, facilitate co-production of knowledge, and raise awareness about community participation and shared responsibility in DRM. The article contextualizes the SAGK, the VRM in Colombia and the legacy of the 1985 eruption, while it thinks over the implemented strategies and their contributions to DRM.en-US
