This paper is based on the idea that the study of peripheral phenomena or marginalia in language can shed new light on the interpretation of other, less marginal linguistic data. Specifically, it focuses on the joining or separation of linguistic elements, which is often considered a typically marginal phenomenon, but which constitutes one of the syntactic criteria for classifying verbal periphrases. For this purpose, interpolation, i.e. the separation of the two components of a periphrasis by another element, is examined in three specific cases: , and . The analysis offers clues for reconsidering interpolation as a criterion for the classification of periphrases. At the same time, the study makes it clear that, on the one hand, verbal periphrases are characterised by a type of syntactic ambiguity and, on the other hand, their semantic value is decisive in determining their periphrastic nature.Este trabajo parte de la idea de que el estudio de fenómenos periféricos o marginalia en la lengua puede arrojar nueva luz sobre la interpretación de otros datos lingüísticos menos marginales. Concretamente, se centra en la unión o separación de los elementos lingüísticos, que suele considerarse un fenómeno típicamente marginal, pero que constituye uno de los criterios sintácticos para clasificar las perífrasis verbales. Para tal fin, se examina la interpolación, es decir la separación de los dos componentes de la perífrasis por otro elemento en tres casos concretos: , y . El análisis ofrece pistas para reconsiderar la interpolación como criterio clasificatorio de las perífrasis. Al mismo tiempo, el estudio, por una parte, pone en claro que las perífrasis verbales se caracterizan por un tipo de ambigüedad sintáctica y que, por otra parte, el valor semántico de ellas es decisivo para determinar su naturaleza perifrástica.
