There are hardly any previous studies about the diachronic evolution of Spanish general extenders, which have grammaticalized in a similar way to other discourse elements, such as discourse and pragmatic markers. Some of the linguistic changes which may be observed since at least the second half of the 20th C and disclose the grammaticalization process are: morphological fixation, lost of the referential function of some of their components, the combination with non-nominal anchoring constituents, the acquisition of a procedural meaning and the development of metadiscourse functions not linked to the original referential meaning.No existen apenas estudios diacrónicos en la lingüística española sobre los apéndices generalizadores (general extenders), cuya gramaticalización ha seguido un proceso paralelo al de otros elementos discursivos como los marcadores. Se describen aquí algunos de los cambios observados desde al menos la segunda mitad del s. XX que pueden considerarse sintomáticos del proceso de gramaticalización: la fijación morfológica, la pérdida de la función referencial de sus componentes, el anclaje a elementos sin naturaleza nominal, la adquisición de un nuevo significado procedimental y el desarrollo de funciones metadiscursivas no ligadas al significado referencial primigenio.
