The hundredth anniversary of the birth of the so-called Frankfurt School provides an opportune moment to reflect on the relevance and contributions of its members, grouped in their different generations. Jürgen Habermas, most likely the most prominent figure of the second generation, continues the path of the early Frankfurt thinkers in certain overarching ideas such as the critique of instrumental reason, the complex relationship between theory and practice, the rejection of all forms of totalitarianism, among others. This can be seen reflected in some of the distinctive Habermasian topics addressed in this text, namely communicative rationality, system and lifeworld, deliberative politics, discoursive ethics. This reading is punctuated by a set of reflections -not exhaustive or exclusive, certainly- from Latin America regarding the German thought’s.Los cien años del nacimiento de la llamada Escuela de Fráncfort resultan un momento propicio para reflexionar acerca de la relevancia y aportes de sus miembros, agrupados en sus distintas generaciones. Jürgen Habermas, muy probablemente la figura más destacada de la segunda generación, continua la senda de los primeros francfortianos en cuanto a ciertas ideas transversales como la crítica a la razón instrumental, la compleja relación entre teoría y praxis, el rechazo a toda forma de totalitarismo, entre otras. Esto puede verse reflejado en algunos de los tópicos habermasianos identitarios que se abordan en el presente texto, a saber, racionalidad comunicativa, sistema y mundo de la vida, política deliberativa, ética del discurso. Dicha lectura tiene como punzante ingrediente un conjunto de reflexiones -no exhaustivas ni excluyentes, por cierto- desde Latinoamérica respecto del pensamiento del germano.
