This research seeks to investigate how the record of political violence produced du- ring the military dictatorship in Chile (1973-1990) is brought to the present to certify the experience of its victims and allow other generations to know the violence perpetrated, mobilizing actions of memory, re-signification and inscription of the memory of the dictatorship in the community from Sites of Memory. From interviews, documentary material of human rights organizations in dictatorship and field notes of my participation, I analyze the enunciations around the former political detention and torture center Providencia de Antofagasta, Chile. This place, a former convent of nuns, was used as a detention center during the civil-military dictatorship in Chile, and then a police station until mid 2023. The place is in dispute by a memory group of the city that seeks its refunctionalization as a Site of Memory. I seek to un- derstand how actions of registration for denunciation and memory tension the discursive and non-discursive forms around the building, showing the different enunciations that cohabit the space. In this way, through this article, I seek to contribute to the dispute of a multiple space, as well as to the form of study of these places that are articulated under different layers of memory, affecting and generating knowledge in the communities that surround it.Esta investigación busca indagar en cómo el registro de la violencia política producido durante la dictadura militar en Chile (1973-1990) es traído al presente para certificar la experiencia de sus víctimas y permitir a otras generaciones conocer la violencia perpetrada, movilizando acciones de memoria, re significación e inscripción de la memoria de la dictadura en la comunidad a partir de Sitios de Memoria.A partir de entrevistas, material documental de organismos de derechos humanos en dictadura y notas de campo de mi participación, analizo las enunciaciones alrededor del ex centro de detención política y tortura Providencia de Antofagasta, Chile. Este lugar, un ex convento de religiosas, fue utilizado como centro de detención durante la dictadura cívico militar en Chile, y luego recinto policial hasta mediados del 2023. El lugar se encuentra en disputa por una Agrupación de memoria de la ciudad que busca su refuncionalización como Sitio de Memoria. Busco entender cómo acciones de registro para la denuncia y memoria tensionan las formas discursivas y no discursivas alrededor del inmueble, mostrando las diferentes enunciaciones que cohabitan en el espacio. De esta manera, por medio de este artículo, busco aportar a la disputa de un espacio múltiple, así como a la forma de estudio de estos lugares que se articulan bajo diferentes capas de memoria, afectando y generando conocimiento en las comunidades que lo rodean.
