The objective of this study is to analyze, from a political and intellectual perspective, the problematization of the concept of sovereignty in the Province of Aconcagua during the republican organization of Chile. The sources used are the Sessions of Legislative Bodies, newspapers, the Municipality of San Felipe archive, and the Intendancy of Aconcagua. The results demonstrate the existence not only of the sovereignty of the peoples and another national, but also a "provincial sovereignty", a concept that reflects the interest of certain letters to rhetorically counteract the interference of Santiago in the region whereas unity. province of the republican state is promoted.El objetivo de este estudio es analizar, desde una historia política e intelectual, la problematización del concepto soberanía en la Provincia de Aconcagua durante la organización republicana de Chile. Las fuentes utilizadas son las Sesiones de Cuerpos Legislativos, periódicos, el archivo Municipalidad de San Felipe y la Intendencia de Aconcagua. Los resultados demuestran la existencia no solo de la soberanía de los pueblos y otra nacional, sino también una “soberanía provincial”, concepto que refleja el interés de ciertos letrados por contrarrestar retóricamente la injerencia de Santiago en la región al mismo tiempo que promovía la unidad provincial del Estado republicano.
