dc.descriptionThe intention of this research is to understand the migratory process of the Japanese in Valparaíso, in light of certain theories appropriate to the characteristics of this phenomenon. From a quantitative perspective, it is a limited migration, but this situation is not due to a lack of interest on the part of the Japanese in coming to our shores. Instead, it is attributed to the limitations and xenophobic attitudes displayed by the receiving society towards the Japanese community. In the face of such local behavior, we are interested in analyzing the causes of this rejection and its consequences on the migratory process of the affected group.en-US
dc.descriptionLa intención de esta investigación es conocer el proceso migratorio de los japoneses en Valparaíso, a la luz de determinadas teorías apropiadas a las características que tuvo dicho fenómeno. Desde la perspectiva cuantitativa se trata de una migración escasa, pero tal situación se explica, no por falta de interés por parte de los japoneses por llegar a nuestras costas, sino debido a las limitaciones y actitudes xenofóbicas que la sociedad receptora mostró hacia la comunidad japonesa. Ante tal conducta local nos interesa analizar las causas de tal rechazo y sus consecuencias en el proceso migratorio del grupo afectado.es-ES
