| dc.description | The main aim of this article is to analyze income poverty in the coal industry between 1932 and 1960. The methodological approach proposed by the ECLAC - the food share method - is used to study the real value of the labor force. Our results show that real income in the coal industry rose, but failed to reach the poverty line, except for 1951-1953. The increment of the early 1950s took place during a national inflationary crisis and was the consequence of the workers movement of the late 1940s. In relative terms, there was a structural concordance between the real and comparative value of the labor force and the situation of paternalism and social control shown in the literature. | en-US |
| dc.description | El objetivo principal de este artículo es analizar la pobreza de ingresos en la industria del carbón entre 1932 y 1960. Se utiliza el enfoque metodológico de la CEPAL –el food share method– para estudiar el valor real de la fuerza de trabajo. Nuestros resultados muestran que el ingreso real en la industria del carbón aumenta, pero no logra superar la línea de la pobreza, con excepción del período 1951-1953. El incremento de principios de los cincuenta tuvo lugar durante una crisis inflacionaria nacional y fue consecuencia del movimiento obrero de finales de los cuarenta. En términos relativos, existió una concordancia estructural entre el valor real y comparativo de la fuerza de trabajo y la situación de paternalismo y control social evidenciada en la literatura. | es-ES |
