This work arises from the intersection of two necessities: the need to include the subordinate subjects of history in the historical discourse and the need to pay attention to personal sources. Thus, the focus is on the women who took part in the mass migrations of the late nineteenth century and the first third of the twentieth century and on the private letters that they exchanged with their loved ones. Correspondences that help us to know the representations of epistolary writing from the conception of letters as “representation of an absence” as well as “exhibition of one’s own presence”. Without forgetting the role played by these egodocuments as representation tools of women in the migration contextEste trabajo surge de la intersección de dos necesidades: la de incluir en el discurso histórico a los sujetos subalternos de la historia y la de prestar atención a las fuentes personales. Por ello, se pone el foco en las mujeres que protagonizaron las migraciones masivas de finales del siglo XIX y el primer tercio del XX, y en las cartas privadas que intercambiaron con sus seres queridos. Correspondencias con las cuales conocer las representaciones de la escritura epistolar a partir de la concepción de las cartas como “representación de una ausencia” así como “exhibición de la propia presencia”. No se olvida el papel jugado por estos egodocumentos como herramientas de representación de las mujeres en el marco migratorio.
