| dc.description | This paper examines what immigrant mothers in Finland do as active agents to support their children’s language socialization. The main focus is on the narratives of the mothers and the decisions they make in their daily lives. This ethnographic study explores the case of four Spanish-speaking immigrant mothers (two Centroamerican and two European) in Finland. The data is analyzed using nexus analysis (Scollon y Scollon 2004). As active agents, migrant mothers work a lot in their daily lives to foster the linguistic socialization of their children. In the narratives of this research’s data, three main discourses can be identified: 1) the discourse on daily activities, 2) the discourse on social contacts and 3) the discourse of linguistic awareness. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo examina qué es lo que hacen madres inmigrantes hispanohablantes en Finlandia como agentes activas para apoyar la socialización lingüística de sus hijos. El enfoque principal está en las narrativas de estas madres y las decisiones que toman en su vida cotidiana. A partir de un estudio etnográfico se explora el caso de cuatro madres inmigrantes hispanohablantes (dos centroamericanas y dos europeas) en Finlandia, aplicando para ello análisis de nexos (Scollon y Scollon 2004). Como agentes activas, las madres inmigrantes se esfuerzan mucho en su vida diaria para fomentar la socialización lingüística de sus hijos. En las narrativas se pueden identificar tres discursos principales que giran en torno de la agencia humana de estas cuatro madres y la socialización lingüística: 1) el discurso sobre las actividades diarias, 2) el discurso de los contactos sociales y 3) el discurso acerca de la conciencia lingüística. | es-ES |
