dc.descriptionAfter presenting the necessity of modern philosophy of thinking the enigmatic image of the Latin American savage in the context of the construction of an exotic imaginary of Latin America, we expose the philosophy of Montaigne about costumes as a mediation that differentiates people as well as cultures. From this point of view, Montaigne thinks the diversity of the world, which he must defend to build an image of boundaries against the violence of European civil war, taking distance from the colonialist discourse in the defense of Pre-Hispanic life in Latin America. However, Montaigne criticizes the existence of cruelty in both worlds, showing a coming artificial cosmopolitism in his writing, as an analogy of the formlessness of humanity built from the endless variety.en-US
dc.descriptionTras introducir la necesidad de la filosofía moderna de responder ante la enigmática figura antropológica del salvaje latinoamericano, en el marco de la construcción de cierto imaginario exótico sobre Latinoamérica, se expone la idea de Montaigne sobre la costumbre como mediación que diferencia tanto a las personas como a las culturas. Desde allí se piensa la diversidad del mundo, rescatada por Montaigne para trazar cierta imagen limítrofe ante la barbarie de la guerra civil europea. Se distancia así del discurso colonialista, al destacar la vida prehispánica desplegada en Latinoamérica. Sin embargo, Montaigne cuestiona en ambos mundos la existencia de la crueldad, a la vez que anticipa cierto cosmopolitismo artificial en su escritura, en tanto analogía de la informe humanidad pensada desde la infinita variedad.es-ES
