The following research addresses the concept of female honor through the study of court processes during 1800-1852 where at least one woman is involved. The honor of a nascent middle group and low people can be determined by means of analyzingthe ideals and their transgressions through insults. This article suggests that honor was based on public reputation without taking gender into account, despite the context of a patriarchal society: during the first half of the XIX century, women considered themselves subjects worthy of honor, which was resignified from the experience of each woman, becoming sexual honor the most essential and, at the same time, injured of the time.En la siguiente investigación se aborda el tratamiento del honor femenino durante 1800 hasta 1852, a través de la revisión de procesos judiciales en los que estuviese, al menos, una mujer involucrada. Analizada desde los ideales y de su trasgresión por medio del insulto-palabra se construye el honor de un naciente grupo medio y del bajo pueblo. El trabajo plantea que el honor se basó en la reputación y fama pública que tuvieron las personas ante su comunidad y no discriminó por género, a pesar de construirse en el marco de una sociedad patriarcal. Las mujeres de la primera mitad del siglo XIX se sintieron sujetos portadores de honor, el que fue resignificado desde la realidad vivencial de cada mujer, llegando a ser el honor sexual el más cuidado y a la vez el más vulnerado de la época.
