dc.descriptionThe aim of this article is to analyze the family wealth management strategies deployed by women around Melipilla (Chile) during the 1810-1837 period. We have been able to establish that this period was particularly complex in the lives of both popular and elite families, due to the contingencies imposed by the War of Independence and the civil conflicts associated with the construction of the State. Despite this, women who found themselves alone, due to the recruitment, escape or imprisonment of their husbands, fathers, or sons, managed to carry out different initiatives of wealth management, such as the purchase, sale and lease of land, houses and belongings, as well as the development of small productive and commercial enterprises. This work was based on notarial and judicial sources, contained in the National Historical Archive.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo se propone analizar las estrategias de gestión del patrimonio familiar, desplegadas por las mujeres de la zona de Melipilla (Chile), durante el ciclo 1810-1837. Hemos podido establecer que este período fue particularmente complejo en la vida de las familias tanto populares como de elite, debido a las contingencias impuestas por la guerra de Independencia y por los conflictos civiles asociados a la construcción del Estado. Pese a ello las mujeres que se encontraban solas, debido al reclutamiento, fuga o encarcelamiento de sus esposos, padres o hijos, lograron llevar a cabo diferentes iniciativas de administración patrimonial, como la compra, venta y arrendamiento de tierras, viviendas y enseres, así como en el desarrollo de pequeñas empresas productivas y comerciales. Este trabajo se apoyó en fuentes notariales y judiciales, contenidas en el Archivo Histórico Nacional.es-ES
