La Disponibilidad Léxica (DL) tiene como finalidad descubrir qué vocablos podría utilizar un hablante en relación con determinados temas, lo que la convierte en una herramienta útil para la Enseñanza de Español como Lengua Extranjera (ELE). El Plan Curricular del Instituto Cervantes (PCIC) establece una lista con el vocabulario que debe ser enseñado en los distintos niveles según el “Marco Común Europeo de Referencia” para las lenguas (MCER): A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. Sin embargo, se ha tomado como modelo la variedad centroseptentrional del español, quedando las variedades americanas relegadas a un segundo plano. Es por eso que el presente estudiomuestra una propuesta de selección léxica basada en la Disponibilidad Léxica en tres campos léxicos –o temas– (ropa, comidas y bebidas, medios de transporte) en los niveles A2 y B2 para la enseñanza de español en Chile. El objetivo es demostrar su utilidad en la selección de vocabulario para la creación de programas y materiales didácticos de enseñanza de español. Finalmente, se contrastarán los resultados obtenidos con las directrices establecidas por el PCIC. Abstract: The purpose of Lexical Availability is to discover the vocabulary that a speaker could use in relation to certain topics, which makes it a useful tool for the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). The Curricular Plan of the Cervantes Institute (PCIC) establishes a list with the vocabulary that should be taught at the different levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (MCER): A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. However, this model has taken as a guide the northern-central variety of Spanish, leaving the American varieties relegated to the background. That is why the present study shows a lexical selection proposal based on Lexical Availability in three lexical fields ―or topics―(clothing, food and drinks, means of transportation) at A2 and B2 levels for teaching Spanish in Chile. The objective is to demonstrate its usefulness in the selection of vocabulary for the creation of Spanish teaching programs and materials. Finally, the results obtained will be contrasted with the guidelines established by the PCIC.
