This article examines the instrumental operating of the administration of justice in the XVII-XVIII Chile, highlighting the Chamber Fines' management. Three aspects, important to the history of justice, can be outlined: the debts, originating from the administration the Chamber Fines and their collection, set the articulation between justice and good government; writs delivered within the proceedings shed light on various agents and the way they become creditors of the Chamber Fines; records of the fines, and the prosecution for their collection, give rise to negociations between creditors. This allows to put a question to the social economy of justice, and the ways we intend to understand the administration of justice in Hispanic America.Este artículo examina el funcionamiento material de la administración de la justicia en el Chile delos siglos XVII y XVIII, enfocándose en la gestión de las penas de cámara según un expediente defines del siglo XVII. Tres aspectos importantes para la historia de la justicia se desprenden de esteestudio: las deudas derivadas de la administración de las penas de cámara y su recaudación marcanla relación entre justicia y buen gobierno; los instrumentos escritos producidos durante los procedimientos señalan una multitud de agentes que se convierten en acreedores del ramo de laspenas de cámara; el registro de las penas, así como los procesos llevados a cabo para su cobro,generan negociaciones entre acreedores. Todo ello interroga lo que sabemos acerca de la economíasocial de la justicia, e interpela las maneras en que nos acercamos a la historia de la administraciónde la justicia en Hispanoamérica.
