dc.description	The urban vegetation present in squares, parks, and public spaces plays a crucial role in maintaining ecosystems within cities, providing benefits for human well-being known as Ecosystem Services. Therefore, the structure, distribution, and composition of vegetation are crucial to maximize these benefits. In this context, it is recognized that in the Metropolitan Area of Santiago (AMS), urban vegetation primarily serves aesthetic and ornamental functions, consisting mainly of exotic species that are neither suitable nor sustainable for local landscaping needs. Despite the advantages offered by native flora, such as lower water consumption, adaptability to the local climate, immunity to pests, and support for biodiversity, there is a negative perception associated with its aesthetic value and functional utility. Therefore, the study addresses the socio-cultural valuation of urban vegetation in the AMS, exploring the aspects that contribute to the determined value and the willingness to incorporate a different type of landscaping related to attributes of native flora, for the greater fulfillment of Ecosystem Services.	en-US
dc.description	La vegetación urbana presente en plazas, parques y espacios públicos juega un papel importante al mantener los ecosistemas dentro de las ciudades, proporcionando beneficios para el bienestar humano conocidos como Servicios Ecosistémicos (SSEE), por lo que la estructura, distribución y composición de la vegetación son cruciales para maximizar estos beneficios. A partir de aquello, se reconoce que en el Área Metropolitana de Santiago (AMS), la vegetación urbana tiene funciones fundamentalmente estéticas en términos ornamentales, compuesta principalmente por especies exóticas que no son apropiadas ni sostenibles para las necesidades paisajísticas locales. Aunque la flora nativa ofrece ventajas como un menor consumo de agua, adaptabilidad al clima local, inmunidad a plagas y apoyo a la biodiversidad, sin embargo, se reconoce una percepción negativa asociada con su valor estético y utilidad funcional. Por lo tanto, el estudio aborda la valoración sociocultural de la vegetación urbana en el AMS, explorando los aspectos que componen el determinado valor y que disposición existe a incorporar otro tipo de paisajismo relacionado a atributos de la flora nativa, en beneficio del mayor cumplimiento de SSEE.	es-ES
