This article addresses the crises of representation of the official heritage spaces of Valparaíso under the context of the social outbreak. Its general objective is to analyze the tensions and disputes around the uses, values and meanings of these spaces, regarding its category of World Heritage Site, maintaining as a hypothesis that even before its UNESCO declaration, the city had become a space for negotiating memories and identities where the hegemonic spatio-temporal relationship of heritage is broken, generating other representations of it. In methodological terms, a qualitative analysis will be carried out based on the critical review of scientific articles on heritage and news from different digital media, whether newspapers and/or communications areas of university institutions or similar that address the social outbreak and its repercussions in Valparaíso. The results show the importance of the historiographic and critical variables to the representations of heritage in space, which contain the modification of the aesthetics of the city, the differentiated valuation of people with respect to that of the institutionality and the degradation of an image that is actually the support of a delegitimized political and ideological proposal.El presente artículo aborda la crisis de representación de los espacios patrimoniales oficiales de Valparaíso bajo el contexto del estallido social. Su objetivo general es analizar las tensiones y disputas en torno a los usos, valores y sentidos de dichos espacios, a propósito de su categoría de Sitio de Patrimonio Mundial, sosteniendo como hipótesis que incluso antes de su declaratoria UNESCO, la ciudad se había convertido en un espacio de negociación de las memorias e identidades donde la relación espacio-temporal hegemónica del patrimonio se rompe, generando otras representaciones del mismo. En términos metodológicos se hará un análisis cualitativo a partir de la revisión crítica de artículos científicos sobre patrimonialización y noticias de diferentes medios digitales, ya sean diarios y/o áreas comunicacionales de instituciones universitarias o similares que aborden el estallido social y sus repercusiones en Valparaíso. Los resultados dan cuenta de la importancia de las variables historiográficas y críticas a las representaciones del patrimonio en el espacio, las cuales hablan sobre la modificación de la estética de la ciudad, la valoración diferenciada de las personas respecto a la de la institucionalidad y la degradación de una imagen que en realidad es el soporte de una propuesta política e ideológica deslegitimada.
