dc.description	The study of a series of eight bone artefacts recovered from archaeological sites on the coast of the Antofagasta region, northern Chile, is reported. Despite being unusual pieces for the area, they are known, and have previously been characterised as hunting weapon points, specifically of spears and harpoons. However, after detailed analysis of each of them and their comparison with some complete objects identified in archaeological collections in museums abroad, an alternative proposal is offered here with regard to their function and technology, understood as part of a larger assemblage in a completely different class of technical object of the sea.	en-US
dc.description	Se reporta el estudio de una serie de artefactos de hueso recuperados en sitios arqueológicos de la costa de la región de Antofagasta, al norte de Chile. Pese a ser piezas poco habituales para la zona, son conocidas y ya habían sido previamente caracterizadas como puntas de armas de caza, específicamente de lanzas y arpones. Sin embargo, luego del análisis detallado de cada una de ellas y de su comparación con algunos objetos completos identificados en colecciones arqueológicas de museos en el extranjero, se ofrece una propuesta alternativa respecto de su función y tecnología, entendidas como parte de un ensamblaje mayor en una clase completamente distinta de objeto técnico del mar.	es-ES
