dc.description	Ingenuity is a long-standing skill in the islands of the Inland Sea of Chiloé, in southern Chile. It is referred to by its own inhabitants as an important part of their identity, and which distinguishes them from those who have gone to live in the cities where "everything is made". Today they have once again activated their ingenuity to transform large volumes of industrial waste, mainly of aquaculture origin, but also artisanal fishing, into creations that recreate objects of daily life, many of which were previously made of wood. We consider this act of adaptation as an indicator that these island communities are creatively coping with current socio-environmental disasters, drawing on a wealth of culturally specific skills to remake their habitability. We propose this ethnographic study as a way of approaching new forms of habitation in the islands of the interior sea of Chiloé.	en-US
dc.description	El ingenio es una habilidad de muy larga data en las islas del mar interior de Chiloé, en el sur de Chile. Es referido por sus propios habitantes como parte importante de su identidad, que los distingue de quienes se han ido a vivir a las ciudades donde “está todo hecho”. Hoy en día han activado nuevamente el ingenio para transformar grandes volúmenes de basura industrial, principalmente de origen acuícola, pero también pesquero artesanal, en artilugios que recrean objetos de la vida cotidiana, muchos de los cuales antes se fabricaban con madera. Consideramos este acto de adaptación como un indicador de que estas comunidades insulares están afrontando de forma creativa los siniestros socioambientales actuales, recurriendo a un acervo de habilidades culturalmente específicas para rehacer su habitabilidad. Proponemos este estudio etnográfico como una forma de aproximarse a nuevas formas de habitar en las islas del mar interior de Chiloé.	es-ES
