dc.descriptionThe Haverbeck house is one of the oldest buildings still standing in the city of Valdivia. Located in a typical area and protected by this fact, the house is awaiting actions to recover and enhance its value before its state of deterioration causes an imminent collapse and one of the most significant 19th century wooden houses in our country is lost. Applying architectural restoration methodology and techniques, the typological and constructive attributes of the building are addressed first, before moving on to the diagnostic stages of structural elements, cladding and ornamentation; based on these, criteria are drawn up for its recovery. The results are categorical: The condition of the house is critical and a complex proposal is required that balances the enhancement of its spatial quality, the mechanical requirements of the new program as an Outreach Center of the School of Engineering Sciences of Universidad Austral de Chile, and the costs involved in the intervention.en-US
dc.descriptionLa casa Haverbeck es uno de los inmuebles más antiguos que aún se mantiene en pie en la ciudad de Valdivia. Ubicada en zona típica y protegida por este hecho, la casa está a la espera de iniciativas que la recuperen y pongan en valor antes de que su estado de deterioro provoque un inminente colapso y perdamos uno de los ejemplares en madera más significativos del siglo XIX en nuestro país. Aplicando metodología y técnicas de restauración arquitectónica, se abordan primero los atributos tipológicos y constructivos del inmueble para luego avanzar a las etapas de diagnóstico de elementos estructurales, revestimientos y ornamentos; en base a ellos, se elaboran criterios para su recuperación. Los resultados son categóricos: el estado de la casona es crítico y se requiere una propuesta compleja que equilibre la puesta en valor de su calidad espacial, las exigencias mecánicas del nuevo programa como Centro de Extensión de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería de la Universidad Austral de Chile y los costos involucrados en la intervención.es-ES
