dc.descriptionThis work tells the site’s history, including the Faculty of Medicine, Clinical Hospital, and School of Public Health of the University of Chile. In the northern sector of Santiago, for-merly called Chimba, the illustrious governor Pedro de Valdivia established his farm. Their lands bordered to the north with those of Huechuraba. A farm in Huechuraba was granted in 1546 to the conqueror Pedro de Miranda. Then Diego de Aranda Gatica acquired the southern end of said property. Later, the property was auctioned by the prominent Peruvian doctor and professor Ignacio de Jesús Zambrano and finally acquired by the Matte family.In 1872, the San Vicente de Paul hospital was established on this property; in 1889, the School of Medicine of the University of Chile, and in 1970, the School of Public Health.en-US
dc.descriptionSe relata en este trabajo la historia del emplazamiento que comprende a la Facultad de Medicina, Hospital Clínico y Escuela de Salud Pública de la Universidad de Chile. En el sector norte de Santiago, denominado antiguamente de la Chimba, se estableció con su chacra el ilustre gobernador Pedro de Valdivia. Sus tierras colindaban por el norte con las de Huechuraba. Una chacra en Huechuraba fue entregada en merced en 1546 al conquistador Pedro de Miranda. Luego el extremo sur de dicho predio fue adquirido por Diego de Aranda Gatica. Posteriormente, la propiedad fue subastada por el destacado médico y catedrático peruano Ignacio de Jesús Zambrano y finalmente adquirida por la familia Matte. En 1872 se estableció en dicha propiedad el hospital San Vicente de Paul, en 1889 la Escuela de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile y en 1970 la Escuela de Salud Pública.es-ES
