The flow of foreign capital into a country is an issue of great relevance for economic and political studies, since it constitutes an important source of resources for the development of emerging economies. The research was a non-experimental, correlational explanatory research with a longitudinal design. The objective of the study was to determine the factors that influence foreign direct investment in Peru during the period 2012-2021. For this purpose, a multiple linear regression model was used with data from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru and the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics. The results show that foreign direct investment in Peru is mainly influenced by factors such as country risk, exchange rate and terms of trade, while inflation and the economically active population do not influence it. In addition, an inverse relationship was found between foreign direct investment and the variables inflation, country risk and terms of trade, and a direct relationship between foreign investment and the variables economically active population and exchange rate. It is concluded that a factor external to the variables studied that influences foreign direct investment in Peru is political instability, on which work should be done to improve the country's political stability in order to strengthen the confidence of foreign investors.en-US
