| dc.description | The paper argues that the trajectory of the Americas Fund has validated it as a specialized institution in managing environmental issues in Chile, and that its mission springs from the commitment to two fundamental values: sustainable development and participatory democracy. The article then outlines the evaluation of their institutional policies and stresses its support for the creation and strengthening of capacities of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and grassroots organizations, through annual competitions as the main tool of corporate management. Then it delves into the concepts of sustainable development and civil society in relation to the new role taken by the liberal state. It also arises questions on public-private cooperation for sustainable development, and proposes new social policies and a 'new deal' with the third sector. | en-US |
| dc.description | El trabajo postula que la trayectoria del Fondo de las Américas lo ha validado como entidad especializada en la gestión de temas ambientales en Chile, y que su misión surge del compromiso con dos valores fundamentales: el desarrollo sustentable, y la democracia participativa. Delinea tras ello la evaluación de sus políticas institucionales y destaca su apoyo a la creación y fortalecimiento de capacidades en las Organizaciones No Gubernamentales (ONGs) y Organizaciones de Base, operado a través de concursos anuales como principal herramienta de gestión institucional. Ahonda luego en los conceptos de desarrollo sustentable y de sociedad civil, en relación con el nuevo rol tomado por el Estado liberal. También se plantea respecto de la cooperación público-privada para el desarrollo sustentable, y propone nuevas políticas sociales y un ‘nuevo trato’ con el tercer sector. | es-ES |
