dc.descriptionThe article presents the characteristics, limitations and opportunities of scientific research in education in the Mapuche context in Chile. The methodology considers a qualitative approach through a case study design, based on a review of scientific literature in journals indexed in WoS, Scopus, ERIC, ProQuest and Scielo, and books on epistemology and research methodology. The study presents the characteristics of scientific research in education and the Western Eurocentric character of educational research in an indigenous context. It is argued that educational research presents limitations and opportunities at the theoretical, methodological and empirical levels that hinder the understanding and explanation of complex educational phenomena in the Mapuche context. It concludes on the need, relevance and timeliness of sustaining educational research on the principles that guide a protocol of ethical action for research in the Mapuche context and the generation of alternatives for educational improvement and social development of families and communities in La Araucanía.en-US
dc.descriptionEl artículo expone las características, limitaciones y oportunidades de la investigación científica en educación en contexto mapuche en Chile. La metodología considera un enfoque cualitativo mediante un diseño de estudio de caso, a partir de una revisión de literatura científica en revistas indexadas en WoS, Scopus, ERIC, ProQuest y Scielo, y libros sobre epistemología y metodología de la investigación. El estudio presenta las características de la investigación científica en educación y el carácter eurocéntrico occidental de la investigación educativa en contexto indígena. Se sostiene que la investigación educativa presenta limitaciones y oportunidades a nivel teórico, metodológico y empírico que dificultan la comprensión y explicación de complejos fenómenos educativos en contexto mapuche. Se concluye en la necesidad, pertinencia y actualidad de sustentar la investigación educativa en los principios que orientan un protocolo de actuación ética para investigar en contexto mapuche y en la generación de alternativas para la mejora educativa y el desarrollo social de las familias y comunidades en La Araucanía.es-ES
