dc.description	The study deals with Eusebio Lillo (1826-1910), e signifi cant representative of Chilean Romantcism, who authored the National Anthem. After a brief contrast between the European and Chilean Romanticisms, especially of their different political frameworks, the article takes into consideration several moments of Lillo’s production, commenting on one particular poem, “The Junco and the Violet” (the “junco” is a botanical relative of the daffodil). Against the background of his fi nal years, in full solitude, even misanthropy, the poet makes the fl owers of his youth a symbol of his destin on the earth.	en-US
dc.description	El artículo estudia la fi gura de Eusebio Lillo (1826-1910), importante poeta romántico chileno y autor, entre otros poemas, de nuestro Himno patrio. Tras describir brevemente las raíces y circunstancias del romanticismo europeo, se lo contrasta con las condiciones políticas del país a mediados del siglo XIX en que emerge el movimiento romántico. Se hace referencia a diversos momentos en la obra de Lillo y a un poema en particular, “El junco y la violeta”, que existe en varias versiones. Contra el fondo del repliegue, casi misantropía, de sus últimos años, se muestra en qué medida el poeta convierte a sus símbolos e imágenes fl orales en parte de su vida y de su muerte.	es-ES
