During the month of October 2019, several demonstrations were observed and witnessed in Chilean territory, motivated by the governmental announcement concerning the increase of the Santiago Metro fares. This event marked the beginning of a social movement of greater scope and magnitude, defined by the media as “Social Outbreak”. For this reason, the present research corresponds to a study of mixed character, which aims to analyze how both international and national media reported about the Social Outbreak in Chile and how this affected the public perception along with the international image of the country. Therefore, a content analysis is carried out selecting the title and lead as specific aspects of the news.En el transcurso del mes octubre de 2019, diversas manifestaciones se observaron y presenciaron en el territorio chileno, motivadas por el anuncio gubernamental concerniente al incremento de las tarifas del Metro de Santiago. Este acontecimiento marcó el inicio de un movimiento social de mayor alcance y envergadura, definido por los medios como “Estallido Social”. Por tal motivo, la presente investigación corresponde a un estudio de carácter mixto, que tiene como propósito analizar cómo los medios de comunicación tanto internacionales como nacionales informaron acerca del Estallido Social en Chile y cómo esto afectó la percepción pública junto con la imagen internacional del país. Por lo que, se realiza un análisis de contenido seleccionando el título y lead como aspectos específicos de la noticia.
