This letter’s objective is to reflect on the discipline of dentistry from a bioethical perspective within the structural framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concerning decision-making at the public policy level, which impacts the population. From a bioethical perspective, the principles of autonomy, non-maleficence, beneficence, and justice are as relevant in the clinical field —such as the informed consent process, data privacy and confidentiality, and the application of new health technologies— as they are in actions that can collectively impact the population, focusing on individuals and well-being at local, regional, national, and even at global levels.El objetivo de esta carta es reflexionar sobre la disciplina odontológica desde una perspectiva bioética en el marco estructural de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) en torno a la toma de decisiones a nivel de políticas públicas que impactan a la población. Desde una perspectiva bioética, los principios de autonomía, no maleficencia, beneficencia y justicia son tan relevantes en el ámbito clínico —como el proceso de consentimiento informado, la privacidad y confidencialidad de datos y la aplicación de nuevas tecnologías en salud— como en acciones que puedan impactar colectivamente a la población, centrándose en los individuos y el bienestar a nivel local, regional, nacional e incluso global.
