dc.descriptionThis essay offers the reader an updated overview of the research discussion on the evolution of industry and arts national exhibitions inaugurated in Santiago de Chile between 1845 and 1888. Most of this research by Chilean historians has been conducted within the last twenty years, and its frequency has increased over the last decade. Catalogues, specialized articles, books, book chapters and papers make up the corpus of this study, which reveals a transversal trait: an ideal of modernization that is staged in the press and in the visual, aesthetic, architectural and agricultural aspects of the exhibitions, as well as in the binomial confrontation of the colonial and the republican.en-US
dc.descriptionEste ensayo ofrece al lector un panorama actualizado de la discusión en torno a las investigaciones interesadas en el devenir de las exposiciones nacionales de industrias y artes inauguradas en Santiago de Chile entre 1845 y 1888. Adelantadas, en su mayoría, por historiadoras e historiadores chilenos, dichas investigaciones se han realizado en los últimos veinte años, incrementándose en la última década: catálogos, artículos especializados, libros, capítulos de libros, ponencias, conforman el corpus de este estudio. El balance informa de un componente transversal a todos ellos: un ideal de modernización que se escenifica en la prensa y en los ámbitos visual, estético, arquitectónico y agrícola de las exhibiciones, así como en el binomio que enfrenta lo colonial a lo republicano.es-ES
