Currently, the use of mobile devices such as smartphones in the family sphere has increased rapidly, evidencing the need to investigate the dynamics in which children and their mothers participate when using these devices in parenting. The objective of this research was to explore the beliefs and practices of mothers regarding the use of mobile devices in raising children under 5 years of age. To do so, semi-structured interviews with narrative aspects were conducted with Chilean women between 22 and 37 years of age. The results indicate that they consider the cell phone as a device that helps them educate and gain free time, but they are concerned that it leads them to addictive behaviors; in addition to how vulnerable their children may be to cyberbullying and grooming, so the regulation of use is based on these concerns. They indicate that use is inevitable given the technological advance and how essential it is in this era, which invites the development of interventions focused on educating about regulation and redistributing the patriarchal parenting roles that surround these contexts.  En la actualidad, el uso de dispositivos móviles como smartphones en la esfera familiar ha aumentado aceleradamente, evidenciando la necesidad de investigar las dinámicas en las que participan niños y niñas, y sus madres al utilizar estos aparatos en la crianza. El objetivo de esta investigación fue explorar las creencias y prácticas de las madres respecto al uso de dispositivos móviles en la crianza de niños y niñas menores de 5 años. Para ello se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas y con aspectos narrativos a mujeres chilenas de entre 22 y 37 años. Los resultados indican que ellas consideran el celular como un dispositivo que les ayuda a educar y a obtener tiempo libre, pero les preocupa que los encamine a conductas de adicción, además de lo vulnerables que pueden ser sus hijos e hijas al ciberacoso y grooming, por lo que la regulación del uso se basa en estas preocupaciones. Indican que el uso es inevitable dado el avance tecnológico y resulta imprescindible en esta época, lo cual invita a desarrollar intervenciones enfocadas en educar sobre la regulación y redistribuir los roles de crianza patriarcales que envuelven estos contextos.
