This article aims to analyze the debates, tensions, and political party definitions of the Chilean Christian Democracy during the years of the Pinochet dictatorship, attending to the political practices of the party subgroups known as "guatones" and "chascones." It is proposed an approach focused on the JDC Christian Democratic Youth and the political identities that are forged in it since it is supported by a hypothesis that the subgroups analyzed have their origin in the JDC, and from there, they are projected to the party as generational politics identity units. The study is built from the analysis of party documents, press releases, and a set of in-depth interviews with Christian Democrat leaders.El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los debates, tensiones y definiciones político-partidarias de la Democracia Cristiana chilena durante los años de la dictadura de Pinochet, atendiendo a las prácticas políticas de los subgrupos partidarios conocidos como “guatones” y “chascones”. Se propone un abordaje centrado en la Juventud Demócrata Cristiana (JDC) y en las identidades políticas que se forjan en ella, pues se sostiene como hipótesis que los subgrupos analizados tienen su origen en la JDC y desde ahí se proyectan al partido en cuanto unidades de identidad política generacional. El estudio se construye a partir del análisis de documentos partidarios, prensa y un conjunto de entrevistas en profundidad a dirigentes demócrata cristianos.
