dc.descriptionThe government of the Low Countries is traditionally an office reserved for princes of the royal blood. This has caused it to be considered a separate case in the study of aristocratic cursus honorum. However, during the 17th century, this reality began to change, when some aristocrats occupied the government of Brussels, while new dynamics were established in the access to certain positions. In this work, we focus on the analysis of those elements that affected the position, as well as its development within the general context of the Monarchy, focusing on a series of cases.en-US
dc.descriptionEl gobierno de los Países Bajos fue un cargo tradicionalmente reservado a príncipes de sangre real. Esto ha provocado que sea considerado un caso aparte en el estudio de los cursus honorum aristocráticos. No obstante, durante el siglo XVII esta realidad empezó a cambiar, al ser ocupado el puesto de gobernador por algunos aristócratas, al mismo tiempo que se establecían dinámicas nuevas en el acceso a determinados cargos. En este trabajo nos centramos en el análisis de aquellos elementos que afectaron al cargo, así como su desarrollo dentro del contexto general de la Monarquía, centrándonos en una serie de casos.es-ES
