Between 1970 and 1973, Chile experienced exceptional political conflagrations and cultural battles. This period of high effervescence marked the presidential campaign that led to the victory of Salvador Allende in 1970 and the government of Popular Unity, and concluded with the coup d’etat of September 11, 1973. This period is approached based on systematic analysis from the press and a diary of life, scrutinizing the representations of the people that are formed and deformed, the feelings of optimism, hopelessness and fear in the face of the struggles that confront different groups and classes. In this journey through turbulent times, it is shown how order is challenged, and how different groups are represented.Entre 1970 y 1973, Chile experimentó excepcionales conflagraciones políticas y batallas culturales. Ese período de alta efervescencia marcó la campaña presidencial que llevó a la victoria de Salvador Allende en 1970 y el gobierno de la Unidad Popular, y concluyó con el golpe de Estado del 11 de septiembre de 1973. Este periodo es abordado a partir de análisis sistemáticos de prensa y de un diario de vida, escudriñando las representaciones del pueblo que se forman y deforman, los sentimientos de optimismo, desesperanza y miedo ante las luchas que enfrentan a distintos grupos y clases. En este viaje a través de tiempos turbulentos, se muestra cómo el orden es desafiado, y cómo distintos grupos son representados.
