| dc.description | This paper studies the negation of -ble adjectives and, specifically, the (im)possibility of introducing no before this type of adjectives. On the one hand, it is established that the possibility of negating -ble adjectives with the particle no is determined by the presence/absence of a modal value: those adjectives that possess this interpretation accept the anteposition of no; those that do not have a modal value reject it. On the other hand, it is analysed whether -ble adjectives with verbal properties lose these characteristics when they are preceded by negation. It is shown that these adjectives maintain these properties, in line with what has been proposed by Gibert Sotelo (2017: 226-227) and Fábregas (2020: 256-257) for the negative prefix in- (contra Varela 1990, 2002, 2003 and Fábregas 2005). | en-US |
| dc.description | Este trabajo estudia la negación de los adjetivos en -ble y, en concreto, la (im)posibilidad de anteponer no a ese tipo de adjetivos. Por una parte, se establece que la posibilidad de negar los adjetivos en -ble con la partícula no está determinada por la presencia/ausencia de un valor modal: aquellos adjetivos que poseen esta interpretación aceptan la anteposición de no; aquellos que no tienen valor modal, la rechazan. Por otra parte, se analiza si los adjetivos en -ble con propiedades verbales pierden esas características cuando están precedidos por la negación y se muestra que no es así, en línea con lo propuesto por Gibert Sotelo (2017: 226-227) y Fábregas (2020: 256-257) para el prefijo negativo in-, y contra lo postulado por Varela (1990, 2002, 2003) y Fábregas (2005). | es-ES |
