There is an epistemological gap between the theoretical foundations of social science disciplines and the knowledge of native peoples, both in Chile and in Latin America. From a perspective located in wallmapu (Mapuche territory), this problem is manifested in the professional intervention of the different scientific disciplines and specifically of Social Work as the first profession of the social sciences settled in Mapuche territory and which today comprises a large part of the Chilean territory. Faced with this problem, the objective of this paper is to articulate the Mapuche notion of “mapu” and the scientific-disciplinary notion of “society” in order to situate it as a paradigm of the social, which in the words of the authors we call “mapudigma”. From this objective we used the mingako as a mapuche methodological approach from which we articulated the approaches of each author based on the review of some of the main bibliographies of mapuche authors who have been reflecting and shedding light on mapu as an unfinished concept. The conclusions also expose the results that support the possibility of rethinking the contemporary social world and its sociocultural construction from an ancestral philosophy called mapuche kimün as a political proposal and epistemic justice.Existe una brecha epistemológica entre los fundamentos teóricos de las disciplinas de las ciencias sociales y los saberes de los pueblos originarios, tanto en Chile como en el continente latinoamericano. Desde una perspectiva situada en wallmapu (territorio mapuche), esta problemática queda manifiesta en la intervención profesional de las diferentes disciplinas científicas y en específico del trabajo social como primera profesión de las ciencias sociales asentada en territorio mapuche y que hoy comprende gran parte del territorio chileno. Frente a esta problemática, el objetivo del presente trabajo consiste en articular la noción mapuche de “mapu” y la noción científico-disciplinar de “sociedad” con el propósito de situarlo como un paradigma de lo social, que en palabras de los(as) autores(as) denominamos “mapudigma” A partir de este objetivo utilizamos el mingako como enfoque metodológico mapuche desde el cual se fue articulando los planteamientos de cada autor(a) en función de la revisión de algunas de las principales bibliografías de autorías mapuche que han venido reflexionando y dando luces del mapu como concepto inacabado. Las conclusiones exponen también los resultados que fundamentan la posibilidad de repensar el mundo social contemporáneo y su construcción sociocultural desde una filosofía ancestral denominada mapuche kimün en tanto propuesta política y de justicia epistémica.
